Our cuisine, our products

The restaurant ‘la Salamandre’ has two rooms and a terrace which welcome you into this intimate space.

Terrace
A stone’s throw from the sea, located on a street which leads directly to the Etretat cliffs, the restaurant de la Salamandre’s terrace is the ideal place to have lunch shielded from the wind while enjoying the fragrant marine air. A ray of sunshine, with your coat off, enjoying some mussels with a glass of cider and summer has already arrived…

Our cuisine
The ‘Restaurant de la Salamandre’ offers a cuisine which goes right to the essential flavours of the region. The products used are organic and prepared in a simple, no frills manner, their origin and authenticity chosen with the greatest care to guarantee a regional taste with powerful flavours. The chef maintains the Cauchois tradition in such a wonderful way that memories of old-fashioned cuisine, stimulated by your taste buds, will soon awaken.

It is this same respect which presides over the choice of wines offered on the wine list. From the South-West to the Alsace region, all are created from organic products (compliance with the biotope and absence of herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilisers.) Traditional winemaking traditions are observed. Not forgetting of course the organic farmer cider, the gold of Normandy.

Our organic products
The manor of the Salamandre did not wait for a certain Grenelle of the Environment organisation to embark on an ecological path. From the year 2000 Philippe Sermoise has transformed the brasserie which was known as « le Tricorne » into an organic venue, soon to be joined by Thierry Debris who is a lover of herbs and authentic products. The organic products stem mostly from men and women who cultivate and raise their products with passion to preserve healthy products in our plates.

The coffee
Following the tradition of countryside cafes, the Salamandre welcomes you both during the summer and winter afternoons. A hot chocolate, a cup of tea, a fire crackling in the hearth and cheeks glowing red from the wind, this is without doubt a definition of happiness. It gives you the welcome break necessary after climbing around the cliffs to admire the spectacle which arises from the sea’s gateway, facing the onslaught of waves unleashed by the storm, the suspended flight of seagulls in the wind as though they were placed mid air, with the spray whipping your face and leaving on your lips the taste of sea salt. Then, sat in front of your hot chocolate, you can cast some poetic notes down inspired by this Dante-like scenery, knowing that you will only be able to touch upon its beauty.
